The messianic titles of Jesus

In our study of messianic prophecy, we started at John 1, which provides an overview of the array of messianic titles people were expecting. These include Messiah, Elijah, The Prophet, the Lamb of God, and the One Moses and the prophets wrote about. Jesus adds two of his own: Son of Man and Ladder to heaven.

Next we will look at the messianic prophecies in Genesis: Genesis 3:15 (known as the Protevangelium, “The first Gospel”); Genesis 12:3 (the promise to Abraham, repeated many other times); and Genesis 49:8-12 (Jacob’s death-bed prophecy about Judah and his descendants).

What messianic prophecies are you interested in studying? Are any puzzling to you?
