Tradition says that the Pentateuch part of the Septuagint (Greek Old Testament) was first translated under the first Greek ruler of Egypt Ptolemy Philadelphus I Soter (367-283 BCE). The rest followed over the next 150 years or so. For more, see the “Go deeper” section, below.
